Where It All Began
In the late 1940s, the Albanian Muslim community in Shepparton was a small group of hardworking immigrants. We didn't have a grand structure, but we had a shared faith and a dream to build a home for our traditions.
Our first gatherings were humble, often held in private homes or rented halls. These early years were defined by resilience and the simple desire to preserve our identity in a new land. It was during this time that the seeds of the Albanian Moslem Society were sown.
By 1953, the community's determination bore fruit with the purchase of the land where our mosque stands today. It wasn't just about bricks and mortar; it was about laying a foundation for generations to come.
Growing with Shepparton
As our families grew, so did the mosque. The original 1960 structure has seen numerous renovations and expansions, each phase reflecting the changing needs of our vibrant community.
What started as a small prayer hall has evolved into a comprehensive community hub. We have integrated modern facilities while maintaining the spiritual essence and architectural heritage that makes our mosque unique.
Today, the Shepparton Mosque stands not only as a place of worship but as a landmark of multicultural success in the Goulburn Valley, welcoming visitors from all walks of life to share in our story.

Planning Your Visit
The Shepparton Mosque is a place of peace and welcome. We invite community members of all faiths to visit and learn more about our culture and heritage.
Dress Code
We ask all visitors to dress modestly. Long sleeves and trousers/skirts below the knee are appreciated. Women are requested to bring a headscarf if entering the prayer hall.
Etiquette
Please remove shoes before entering carpeted prayer areas. Photography is permitted, but please be mindful of worshippers and avoid flash during prayer times.
